Washington Organics Legislation passes

News ECS Staff 03/11/2022

ECS is excited to see the State of Washington prioritizing sustainable organics management through passing House Bill 1799.

The primary purpose of the bill is to reduce methane emissions from landfills, which account for a significant portion of human caused greenhouse gas emissions. This includes a goal of 75% reduction of statewide organic materials by 2030 compared to 2015 levels. Composting provides a commercially proven tool to help meet this goal.
