Client Needs

Spokane, Washington had a history of odorous compost facilities. Barr-Tech responded to a municipal RFP to develop a new compost facility. The facility needed proven odor capture and control technology capable of processing a variety of feedstocks.

ECS Solution

ECS worked with the Barr-Tech team and won the RFP. The technical portion of the proposal included a covered aerated static pile (CASP) with negative aeration, biofiltration, and the CompDog™ aeration floor

The CASP was selected for its ability to capture and control odors. Using the CompDog™ above grade aeration system reduced the initial cost of the facility by not requiring below grade aeration pipes and drainage.

Since start-up and the initial staff training in 2010 ECS has been supplying ongoing technical assistance and facility support as requested.

I have been working with ECS and their staff for nearly 10 years at different sites and find their product support to be excellent. Their systems are reliable, but when we do need help the staff is quick to respond, always helpful and very knowledgeable; and if you operate the systems the way they are designed you’ll make excellent compost.
