ECS Supports CREF Compost Application ROI Data Sheets

News ECS Staff 01/02/2022

As regulations continue supporting organic diversion and increased compost, the Compost Research and Education Foundation (CREF) recognized the need to grow market demand for the end product.   While it is widely understood that applying compost is good for soil heath and carbon sequestration, as an industry we had not articulated the financial rational.  The board, of which ECS’s Tim O’Neill is a member, initiated a project to review a broad range of published compost application studies and produce fact sheets for specific compost applications.  These concise fact sheet provide both best practices and a discussion of the Return on Investment (ROI) for specific applications. The goal is to provide compost sales professionals with clear science-based literature that will help their clients can readily identify the bottom-line value of proper compost application. Please share this information to help promote economically sustainable organic management.
